The Extra Mile
A DCSF publication (May 2008)
Whether you are a pilot school for this new initiative or not, the
booklet offers useful insights into how schools and their 'delivery
systems' can help young people expect and achieve more.
There are useful case studies of how other schools and communities in
regeneration areas have aspired to alter the learning outcome landscape.
We thought the Extra MIle was
worth it - it does fit with and help justify the investment in
the delivery of our literacy and reading projects - but the
illustrative examples were themselves telling in how young people
respond to 'self-generated' change.

Our
partners and
associates have wide experience of
developing and
delivering services, for children and young people, with a
variety
of partners.
From activities such as relocating child care
settings to delivery
of community consultation on new service development including
team
training, Children's Centres and extended school provision - we can
help.
Always aligned with best practice, our work can
involve
consultation, mapping and whole project delivery or simply providing a
framework for the creation and kick start of new initiatives.

- Change and
community business creation
Balancing
the

need for the generation of a surplus to ensure sustainability and the
delivery of the whole proposition with appropriately high values and
public sector policies, creates a complex matrix of seemingly
conflicting
demands.
We have
many years of experience of
operating across the
public/private interface. We deploy this skill set in your
